US-1 from Miami to Key West crosses forty-two bridges and a lot of open water, including the Seven Mile Bridge. It is one of the great drives in the United States, and it is genuinely better from the back seat than from behind the wheel.
As a transfer it takes three and a half to four and a half hours without stops. As a day trip it takes as long as you want it to, and we build the stops into the quote.
Transfer or day trip
As a straight transfer we collect from PortMiami, MIA or a Miami hotel and drive down, with one stop. As a day trip the vehicle and driver are yours — Islamorada for lunch, Bahia Honda, the Seven Mile Bridge, whatever you want to see.
Be realistic about the day trip: four hours down and four back is a long day. Many customers stay a night in Key West and have us collect them the following afternoon.

Sedan or Nautilus
1–4 passengers. Fine for a couple, though the higher seating position of a full-size SUV is better for the views.

4–6 passengers. The best balance of comfort and visibility for the bridges.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
7–14 passengers. Large windows and room to move — the most comfortable way to do this drive as a group.
Mini coach / motorcoach
15–56 passengers. Group day trips and event travel. Restroom on board matters over this distance.

How long does it take to drive from Miami to Key West?
Three and a half hours with clear roads and no stops. Four and a half is realistic, and on a holiday weekend US-1 through the Upper Keys can add more. There is only one road, so there is no alternative route when it is busy.
Is it worth doing as a day trip?
It is a long day — eight hours of driving plus your time there. Doable and popular, but staying overnight is more enjoyable if you can.
Can we stop along the way?
That is most of the point. Islamorada, Marathon, Bahia Honda and the Seven Mile Bridge are the usual ones. Tell us roughly what you want to see and we will price the day.
Do you collect from cruise ships in Key West?
Yes — we can collect at the Key West cruise port and bring you back to Miami, which is a common request when someone misses a sailing.
