The FLL to Port Everglades shuttle is the shortest airport-to-ship run in Florida. Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International and Port Everglades are effectively neighbours — the runway and the cruise terminals are about two miles apart. On a quiet morning the drive is five minutes.
So why book a vehicle at all? Because on a Sunday morning in season, with several ships turning around, the roads around SE 17th Street and the terminal approaches get genuinely congested, and because getting six people plus a week of luggage into a rideshare is its own problem. The distance is trivial; the logistics are not.

Is it worth booking a transfer for two miles?
For one or two people travelling light, honestly, a taxi from the rank is fine. For a family with luggage, or any group over four, a pre-booked vehicle is faster, cheaper per head and far less stressful — and it is guaranteed to be there.
How early should I land before my cruise?
Because the transfer is so short, landing three hours before boarding closes is comfortable here — the most relaxed airport-to-ship combination in Florida.
