Fort Lauderdale is the easiest city in South Florida to move around, largely because its airport and its cruise port are neighbours. A hotel on the beach is minutes from both, which makes it the most forgiving place in the region to plan a cruise from.
The complication is seasonal rather than structural. Between December and April the beach hotels, the port and the airport all run at capacity simultaneously, and SE 17th Street — the road connecting them — becomes the bottleneck. We build that into pickup times from November onward.

Minutes. The port is immediately south of the city, and from most beach or downtown hotels it is a five to thirty minute run depending on where you start and how busy SE 17th Street is.
Should I fly into FLL or MIA for a Port Everglades cruise?
FLL, without question. It is about two miles from the cruise terminals against twenty-five from MIA — the easiest airport-to-ship combination in Florida.
How long from Fort Lauderdale to the Port of Miami?
About twenty-eight miles down I-95. Budget an hour; it can be forty minutes off-peak and considerably more in rush hour.
